Many eye problems can develop without warning and progress with no symptoms. However, eye diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal tears or detachments, as well as other health problems can be detected with a thorough exam of the retina. Traditionally, drops are used to dilate (enlarge) your pupils to properly view the retina.
However, this August the doctors and staff at Handel Vision Clinic are featuring the optomap Retinal Scan by optos. The optomap scan usually eliminates the need for dilation of your pupils resulting in a fast, easy and comfortable examination.
An optomap Retinal Exam provides a digital image of the retina allowing:
- Your doctor to confirm a healthy eye or detect the presence of disease
- Your doctor to see a more detailed view than can be achieved by other means
- The opportunity for you to view and discuss the optomap images of your eye with your doctor
- For a permanent record for your medical file, enabling your doctor to make important comparisons if potential problems show themselves at a later date
